I’m at that stage in the year now where I have to think about how my photography work will be exhibited in the final show. What I have thought of doing is to have a size A0 which features 4 of my images. Doing it this way I feel more of my work can be seen and able to be understood better.

After showing my designs to my tutor he advised me to carefully look at the placement of the images such as the set above, the bottom left there’s far too much blue and stands out from the rest.
This set below is a series of pictures based on the hoarding and barriers I’ve come across in the cities. I think this piece works well the only issue which got pointed out to me was the face the top left scaffolding images was taken looking up towards it where the rest of them are face on. So that image needs to be replaced.
I’ve placed these two sets of images above together to show how different cities can be in different transformation stages. Manchester (Left set of 4 images) is at the stage where it’s heading to be the next London, filled with new modern buildings and skyscrapers, the place is full of construction work. Liverpool (Right set of images) to me is showing the finish, clean-cut architectural structures.
I feel these two sets of images shows the amount of wealth and resources the United Kingdom has to show to the rest of the country and the world.
As a photography group, we had already looked into Metro Print based in London as it has been used by previous students in other years. They have a wide range of paper types as well as being able to frame and mount the photography work at extra costs. Metro Print seem to be popular as their turn around time is quick and efficient.
After my issues with Digitalab i decided to get 5 7″x 5″ of my images printed on different paper types. i sent off work using the standard service…

The uploading of the images was easy and simple to pick out the sizes and type of paper, also adding in section for any extras you need (mounting & framing).
Since sending my images i recieved quick response from them as 1 of my images had been corupted and recieved email asking for an alternative image to finish off printing ASAP.
After recieveing my prints in the posts it was great to have physical prints of my own on different papers to review each one carefully and come up with a correct type to print larger scale.
The Metalilic print worked exceptionally well due to the colour tones being similar to metal- silver, white, greys. The problem with this paper type it would only look good on certain images from my project, but other than that i love the metalilic look.
The Giclee Photorag paper i find works really well, it is a great sturdy thickness, not shiny as i dont want my prints to be relective and the colour comes up well, it hasnt faded with the paper type. This product is highly recommended.
After talking about the upcoming exhibition and final hand-ins I’ve decided to research different companies where they can print exhibition piece, looking at prices and different paper types.
After exploring on their website I could not find a way to order samples of my own work on the different paper types. So what I did was I got in contact with them over their facebook page and inquired about it. I was told to use a site connected with digitalab called ‘WeTransfer’ to order prints smaller than 10″x 8″ and receive a 50% discount.
I sent off my images with the relevant information they needed and they would be in contact to confirm the transfer. It took a while to get a response. I emailed again asking how much the prints come too and how i go about paying for them. no reply. Emailed once more after receiving an email saying they hadn’t transferred my images and would be deleted in a couple more days.
I hear back eventually with information I had asked for and I got quoted £129.77, I was surprised as I asked for 7″ x 5″ so I doubled checked it was right and was informed they don’t do sizes smaller than 12″ x 6″ after initially being told they did.
I liked this site at first with how quickly I received their samples they give out of paper types. but after having trouble getting in contact and having to go through another webpage it was too much hassle and time comsuming. I’ve decided to look elsewhere.
I was informed by other students and tutors after they visited the area of the amount of work Salford was undergoing. So i took myself to visit the area to see what was happening. There was a mixure structures which had just been finished building/ almost ready to buildings where there in the early stages. Ive photographed both as whole images as well as close up creatng abstract pieces. Some of the images are below.
Im getting to the stage in my project where i am almost done. Right now most of the shoots are going back and relooking at sites already photographed to places i want to reshoot the image. These will be seen in futhure posts.

The exam what has to be taken to receive the Adobe Certified Associate will be done on an educational premises e.g. college or university campus. The exam will take 40 minutes to complete, 50 questions to answer and to pass need to complete 75% of the exam correctly.
Once passed the ACA will last for 3 years, it can be placed on any curriculum vitae (CV), websites and portfolios. We were told on the website that there are free study guides and all whats needed is to register and get an Adobe ID
To prepare for the exam we were told you can get 100 mock papers and online training from https://gmetrix.net and an account is needed to access the online training. For the actual exam it is hosted by http://cirtiport.com/ and a registration is also needed aswell.
There’s plenty of time to practice and register for the sites as the sign up deadline is July.

While I visited Tate Liverpool on the 03/03/16, walking around viewing the wide variety of work on display. I started looking into how work can be exhibited in several different ways, from small to large prints, one image to several or hundreds of images, from a mixture of sizes to videography.
The piece’s I liked the look of on how to exhibit are shown below.

Today I was in Liverpool doing photographs and whilst there it was an opportunity I couldn’t miss out on and had to pay a visit. This was my first experience at viewing work in Tate galleries and the work on display was extraordinary. I saw work I’d previously researched and been influenced by as well as artists I have not heard of but make excellent work.
There featured artist’s work on display was the work of Henri Matisse (1869-1954) collection called ‘Matisse in focus’. It shows a great range of his work from drawing, painting, sculpture and shows the artist’s interest in the use of colour and the human figure. His artist practise ranges across portraiture, landscape, figure studies and still life.
It was good to see how an artist can range from several techniques and method throughout his life. examples of his work are below.
Other work I came across is Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) The Gardener Vallier. An oil painting on canvas.
Also Gillian Wearing. In second year I studied this series of work ‘Signs that say what you want them to say and not signs that say what someone else wants you to say’ and it was great to see her work up close.
This next piece of work I liked the look of as I felt I could relate it to my work. This piece is by Giacomo Balla (1871-1958) is called Abstract Speed- The Car has Passed (1913). From this work it was the fact it was abstract what caught my eye as the project I’ve developed into is my images getting a whole lot closer to construction site and not always being able to notice straight away what was being shown.
For people who dont see abstract often it’s difficult to view the work, as I found out with the person I was with at Tate, I had to explain what was going on in this piece until that person noticed what was happening. I want to get people looking at my work and spending time analysing and making connection as to what the subject is.
